Horizontal Jet, Pressure Used in
To administer the horizontal douche properly there should be an ample supply of hot and cold water, so they may be mixed to any required temperature. There should be suf¬ficient force to produce any pressure up to fifty pounds, and a hose or tube of suf¬ficient capacity to give a considerable mass of water when desired. Naturally, the greatest pressure and the greatest mass of water will not be employed all the time, nor in every case. It is best that the head be thoroughly cooled before the douche is given, and often it is advisable to have a cold towel about the head or neck, or both.
